I'm willing to give it another go, but I'm not going to sit around for an hour waiting.
I just wanted to quote G here. Back in the day I used to sit in Grom'Gol for almost 3 hours waiting for 6 people to log in so we could run Zul'Gurub. 20man's were serious business back then.
That was time, a lot of time, I or the other lifeless souls could have spent doing other things (PVP in Hillsbrad?!). If something comes up, it takes you all of 30 seconds to give someone the heads up ... a text, a PM, something. Obviously I, and anyone else would forgive you for not alerting us to your absence if you cut both legs off or got your penis stuck in a vacuum. Not showing up or not communicating that you are not planning on showing up is just plain rude and inconsiderate. Retribution is a mature guild and as such, many of our members are mature adults ... many of them have mature duties like being a dad or having to watch Larry King Live at 11pm.
I'm not pointing any fingers and I'm not calling anyone out about anything. While it might not be a big deal to one person, there's someone else who might have pushed off a movie date or a game of scrabble with their spouse.
All I'm saying is:
... be considerate of others when you sign up for an event.
