Diablo 3 Auction House Announced - Spend and Earn Real Life Money!
The Diablo 3 Auction House was announced during last week's press tour and I'm sure that news will be very interesting for most of the readers of this site, because most of us wonder if it will have any effect on the evolution of WoW in the long run.
Diablo 3's Auction House will feature two currencies, the first one will be in-game gold and the 2nd one will be real life money. Yep, you read it right, Diablo 3 will let you buy items with either gold or real life money! It's also worth noting that you will also be able to sell loot for money, and transfer that money outside the game. I guess gold farming just got interesting.
I can see Evilwood, Bacon and I trolling the AH even more.

I am sure they will have some complex new systems to ensure that people do not abuse this - and for those who find away around it I figure they will simply be adding a large new section to the terms and conditions and perma bans will be given out willy-nilly... willy nilly lol.

the 14-16 year olds getting addicted to farming for real money, doesn't sound good. It will eliminate most of the third-party "buy-gold" sites which is good.
Wonder if they will give the option to sell an ALT?

You don't have to pay to compete. You can buy the items with gold if you want or with cash but its two separate auction houses, so really the cash auction house will only be as strong as the amount of people that participate in it. I'll probably try selling on there just because real money > game money but i highly doubt I'll buy anything just because I have bills and [censored] to pay that come before a few pixels on a game. This is just blizzards way of getting some income off D3 other than initial sales so they can show stockholders that while its not the cash cow of WoW its still a profitable game.
If everyone boycotts the cash auction house, then its still D3, if everyone uses the case auction house.... then its still D3 but with prettier pixels on the kids with dad's credit card number.
